Buying Jaindl Turkeys & Products
Where can I purchase Jaindl turkeys and products?
You have a few options for buying Jaindl's turkey products:
- Jaindl Retail Store: Visit our farm store at 3151 Coffeetown Road, Orefield, PA. The store carries whole turkeys, turkey breasts, BBQ, ground turkey, smoked turkey, A-Treat sodas, and more. It's first-come, first-served – just ask a staff member for the size turkey you need. (Store hours are Monday–Friday 8 AM–4 PM, Saturday 8 AM–12 PM.)
- Partner Grocery Stores: Jaindl turkeys are proudly carried by many retailers. Look for our turkeys at Whole Foods, Wegmans, Stew Leonard's, Uncle Giuseppe's, Fresh Thyme, and other regional grocers. (These partners often stock Jaindl turkeys during the holiday season.)
- Online Store: You can also order select products on our website for delivery to your home. We ship a variety of items, including whole frozen turkeys, turkey breasts, ground turkey, burgers, jerky, and more year-round.
Do I need to pre-order a Thanksgiving turkey, or can I buy one directly?
For most individual customers, no pre-order is required. At our Orefield retail store, all turkeys are sold on a walk-in, first-come basis while supplies last. We stock plenty of birds, but popular sizes can sell out close to the holiday, so it's wise to shop early.
Many grocery stores that carry Jaindl also stock our turkeys for the holidays without special order. If you need a large quantity or a specific size for an event, you may contact us in advance or consider our wholesale department (for orders of 10+ turkeys). Otherwise, you can simply visit the store or retailer and pick out your turkey. (Our online shop may offer holiday turkey ordering with delivery cut-offs – be sure to check early in the season.)
Can I order online and have a turkey shipped to me? Do you ship to my state?
Yes! Our online store can ship turkeys and other products directly to customers within the continental United States. We ship all products frozen in insulated packaging to ensure they arrive in peak condition. Delivery is via 2-day shipping in most cases.
We currently ship nationally (USA), so whether you're in Florida, Colorado, or elsewhere in the lower 48 states, you can get a Jaindl turkey delivered. Just order through the Shop Online section of our website.
Note: Orders placed Sunday–Tuesday usually ship the next business day. Orders placed Wednesday after 12 PM through Saturday ship out on Monday to avoid weekend transit. This schedule ensures your turkey stays cold in transit. If you're outside our shipping areas or need special arrangements, please contact us.
What sizes of whole turkeys are available? Do you offer extra-large turkeys (25+ lbs)?
We raise turkeys in a range of sizes to suit different gatherings. Our standard Grand Champion whole turkeys come in weight categories from Extra Small (6–10 lbs) up to Extra Large (22–26 lbs). The Organic Grand Champion line is offered in the same size ranges.
In most years, a bird in the 20–26 pound range is the largest available through retail. (Occasionally, a few larger birds may be produced for special purposes like the White House or display, but they are not generally sold to the public.)
If you need a very large turkey, you can consider roasting two smaller ones or contact us to see if any jumbo birds are available that season. Overall, our turkeys provide a generous amount of meat – thanks to selective breeding, the Jaindl Grand Champion has up to 54% more white meat than other brands of the same weight.
Are Jaindl turkeys "all-natural"? Do they contain any additives or injections?
Jaindl turkeys are raised to be as pure and healthy as possible. They are not injected with any artificial brines or additives – what you get is just turkey. Our birds are humanely raised on a vegetarian diet with no growth hormones and no antibiotics ever.
In fact, Jaindl turkeys are renowned for being "Lite" – independent lab tests confirmed they have 55% less fat and 25% fewer calories than standard turkeys. We achieve this through breeding and feed, not additives.
All Jaindl turkeys are processed and flash-frozen (or sold fresh during the holidays) without any added preservatives. You can be confident you're getting a truly all-natural product – just lean, tender turkey as nature intended.
What's the difference between the Grand Champion Turkey and the Organic Grand Champion?
Both of these are high-quality Jaindl turkeys, but the key difference is in how they are raised and certified:
- Grand Champion: Our flagship turkey, raised on our farm in PA with our standard high-quality practices (vegetarian feed, no antibiotics or hormones). These turkeys are naturally lean and flavorful, with the broad-breast genetics Jaindl is known for.
- Organic Grand Champion: Raised with all the above standards plus certified organic practices. This means these birds are fed a 100% certified organic diet (organic grains/vegetarian feed) and are raised without any synthetic inputs. They meet USDA Organic certification requirements. In terms of taste and leanness, they are very similar to the regular Grand Champion – also 55% less fat than typical turkeys – but some customers prefer the organic certification for peace of mind.
In summary, both lines are antibiotic-free, hormone-free, humanely raised turkeys. If you prefer an organic product (from feed to processing), choose the Organic Grand Champion. Otherwise, the standard Grand Champion will also provide an excellent, all-natural turkey for your table.
Do you sell turkey parts (like just turkey legs or wings) separately?
At this time, Jaindl does not offer raw turkey parts like legs or wings as standalone retail products. Our focus is on whole turkeys and value-added turkey products. You will find whole birds (and cut turkey breasts) for sale, but you generally won't see packages of uncooked drumsticks or wings on our site or at the farm store.
We occasionally receive inquiries about buying just legs or wings – unfortunately, we do not package those for individual sale. However, we do offer fully-cooked turkey BBQ and similar items if you're looking for prepared turkey options. And of course, every whole bird comes with legs and wings attached for you to enjoy!
(If demand for specific parts grows, it's something we may consider in the future, but currently they are not sold separately.)
I have a Jaindl gift card or a turkey certificate (e.g. from my employer). How can I redeem it?
If you have a physical Jaindl gift card (such as one given as a gift or prize), it can be redeemed in person at our Jaindl Retail Store in Orefield, PA. Present the card at checkout and the staff will apply its value to your purchase. At this time, our online store cannot directly accept gift card codes, so you won't be able to enter it at the online checkout. We apologize for that inconvenience – we hope to enable online gift card redemption in the future.
For special turkey certificates (for example, local companies like LVHN sometimes give employees certificates for a Jaindl turkey), those are usually redeemed by bringing the certificate to our retail store as well. We honor those certificates for the specific product or value indicated. If you are unable to visit in person before the certificate's expiration (due to circumstances like weather delays, etc.), please contact us to make alternate arrangements. We strive to ensure you receive your Jaindl product.
In short: gift cards and promo certificates are handled through our farm store. If you have any questions or can't redeem in person, call us and we'll do our best to assist.
Shipping, Storage & Handling
How does shipping work for online orders?
We take special care to ship your orders so that perishable items arrive safely. All products are shipped frozen, packed with insulated materials and ice packs. We use expedited shipping (usually 2-day delivery) to ensure your turkey stays cold.
Shipping schedule: Orders placed Sunday–Tuesday generally ship out the next business day. Orders placed later in the week (after noon Wednesday through Saturday) will ship on Monday, to avoid any weekend transit delays. This means if you order on a Thursday, for example, we'll hold it until Monday so it doesn't sit in a warehouse over the weekend. Once shipped, your package should arrive within 1–2 days.
Shipping is available throughout the continental US. Please note that delivery times are estimates – unexpected carrier delays or severe weather might impact arrival. We recommend ordering early if you need your turkey by a specific date (especially around holidays). You will receive tracking information to follow your package. If you have any issues with delivery, contact us right away. We want your turkey to arrive frozen and in peak condition, and we'll work with you if anything goes wrong.
How long can I keep a fresh (unfrozen) Jaindl turkey in the refrigerator?
Because of our careful processing and the inherent leanness of our turkeys, a fresh raw Jaindl turkey has a relatively good shelf life for a poultry product. In fact, our fresh (never frozen) Jaindl turkeys can last up to 10 days in your refrigerator and still maintain quality.
This is assuming you keep it properly refrigerated (at or below 40°F) and in its original unopened packaging. Many customers pick up their fresh Thanksgiving turkey from us a week in advance without issue.
However, if your plans change or you need to store it longer than 7–10 days, we recommend freezing it to preserve freshness. Always cook any raw turkey by the use-by date (if provided) or within 10 days. And of course, never consume a turkey that has an off odor or appearance – when in doubt, throw it out. But generally, you can trust a fresh Jaindl turkey to hold in the fridge for about a week to ten days safely.
If my shipped turkey arrives thawed (not fully frozen), is it still safe?
Yes – it's not uncommon for a shipped turkey to partially thaw by the time it arrives, especially if it spent 2 days in transit. As long as the turkey is still cold to the touch (below 40°F) upon arrival, it is safe to either refrigerate or re-freeze.
We ship frozen to give you maximum flexibility: you can put it straight in your freezer, or keep it refrigerated if you plan to cook it within the next few days. If your turkey arrived completely thawed and you're still a week or more away from when you need it, you can safely freeze it upon arrival. (A turkey can be re-frozen if it was thawed under refrigeration and has remained cold.)
On the other hand, if your turkey is warm or the ice packs are completely thawed and hot, please contact us – that would be an unusual situation. In summary, a partially thawed turkey is fine; just keep it refrigerated and cook within a few days, or freeze it for later. Our packaging and shipping schedule are designed to keep the turkey at a safe temperature in transit, so problems are very rare.
How long will a smoked turkey or turkey breast last in the fridge?
Our smoked turkey products are fully cooked and vacuum-sealed, which gives them a great refrigerated shelf life. Unopened, in its original packaging, a smoked whole turkey (or smoked turkey breast) can last for several weeks chilled. In fact, a vacuum-sealed smoked Jaindl turkey will keep for up to about 6 weeks in the refrigerator.
If you receive a smoked turkey as a gift or for the holidays, you don't have to use it immediately – you've got a month or more to enjoy it, as long as it stays unopened and cold. Once you open the package, however, treat it like any other cooked meat: wrap it tightly and use the leftovers within 3–5 days for best quality (or freeze portions for later).
For smoked turkey breasts (boneless), the same general timeline applies. Keep them sealed until you're ready to serve, and they'll stay fresh for several weeks. Always check for any "use by" date on the label – if provided, follow that date. And of course, keep the product refrigerated at all times (don't let it sit at room temp except when serving). If you need to store it longer than a few weeks, you can pop an unopened smoked turkey into the freezer; it will be safe indefinitely when frozen, though best used within a few months for optimal flavor.
What is the best way to thaw a frozen turkey?
The recommended method to safely thaw a frozen Jaindl turkey is in the refrigerator. Plan ahead, because it takes time! Keep the turkey in its airtight packaging (don't open the bag), and set it on a tray or pan to catch any drips, at the bottom of your fridge. Allow roughly 4 to 7 days of fridge time for a full thaw, depending on the turkey's size. Larger turkeys (20+ lbs) will be closer to a week; smaller turkeys might thaw in 4-5 days. This slow, steady thaw ensures the turkey stays at a safe temperature the whole time.
If you're short on time, as an alternative you can use the cold water thawing method: submerge the sealed turkey in cold water, changing the water every 30 minutes to keep it cold. This method takes about 30 minutes per pound. (For example, a 16 lb turkey might take 8 hours of cold water bathing.) Cook immediately after a cold-water thaw – do not refreeze it raw.
Never thaw a turkey at room temperature, as that can promote bacterial growth. Refrigerator thawing is the gold standard for safety and results.
Cooking & Preparation
How long does it take to roast a Jaindl turkey?
One hallmark of Jaindl's Grand Champion breed is that it cooks a bit faster than many standard turkeys. Because our birds have less fat under the skin, they roast in less time than other brands. As a rule of thumb, plan on about 13–15 minutes per pound at 325°F for a Jaindl turkey (assuming an unstuffed bird). For example, a 20 lb turkey might only need roughly 4 to 4.5 hours, whereas some other brands could take 5+ hours for the same weight.
It's very important not to overcook our turkeys – if you roast them far past done, you could dry out that lovely lean meat.
We equip each turkey with a pop-up timer device that has proven quite accurate. When that pops, check the internal temperature with a meat thermometer to confirm doneness (you want 165°F in the thick part of the breast). If the timer hasn't popped by about 30 minutes after the expected time, go ahead and check the turkey – it might already be done.
Many customers are surprised how quickly a Jaindl turkey finishes roasting, so keep an eye on it. Use the drippings to make gravy and let the turkey rest 20–30 minutes before carving. Following the roasting instructions on the packaging (developed by our quality control team) will yield the best results. Enjoy your tender, juicy Jaindl turkey!
Do you have any cooking tips or recipes for preparing Jaindl turkeys?
Yes, we love sharing cooking advice! Our website has a Cooking Tips & Recipes section with lots of resources. A few key tips for cooking a Jaindl turkey:
- Use a Meat Thermometer: Because our turkeys cook faster, always rely on internal temperature (165°F in breast) rather than just time. This prevents overcooking.
- Don't Baste Too Much: Opening the oven frequently extends cooking time. With the built-in tenderness of our birds, you usually don't need constant basting. A rub of butter or oil at the start is fine.
- Let It Rest: After roasting, let the turkey rest at least 20 minutes before carving. This helps the juices redistribute for moist meat.
- Recipes: We have recipes for traditional roast turkey (with instructions), as well as creative uses for leftovers. For example, you'll find recipes for turkey stuffing, cranberry-orange relish, turkey BBQ (Pennsylvania Dutch style), smoked turkey dip, turkey tetrazzini, and more on our site. We even share our founder family's favorite stuffing recipe and gravy tips.
For a step-by-step guide, see our "How to Cook a Jaindl Turkey" article on the site – it covers pre-heating the oven (make sure your oven is accurate!), estimated roasting times, and other nuances. And if you ever have specific cooking questions, you can reach out to us – we're happy to help you get the best from your bird.
Wholesale & Business Partnerships
How can I become a distributor or wholesale buyer of Jaindl turkeys?
Jaindl is always open to building relationships with quality partners. If you're interested in distributing our turkey products (regionally, nationally, or even internationally), we'd love to hear from you. To start the conversation about wholesale distribution, please contact our team by phone or email. You can reach us toll-free at 1-800-475-6654 or email info@jaindl.com. Let us know about your business and your interest in carrying Jaindl products.
For smaller wholesale needs (for example, organizations looking to buy 10 or more turkeys for an event or fundraiser), we do accommodate those orders through our "Small Wholesale" department. Typically, you would pick up large orders at our farm in Orefield, PA. We can provide an order form and pricing if you contact wholesale@jaindl.com or call us. Generally, orders of 10+ turkeys qualify for wholesale arrangements.
In short, to become a distributor or bulk purchaser, get in touch with us directly – we will discuss pricing, logistics, and establish a relationship. We value long-term partnerships and will work with you on a solution, whether you're a grocery chain, a small store, or an international distributor. Also, feel free to view the list of our current retail partners on our site to see where we're already distributed.
I own a restaurant/store and want to buy turkeys in bulk – do you offer bulk discounts?
Yes, we do offer wholesale pricing for bulk purchases, typically starting at orders of 10 turkeys or more. Restaurants, caterers, and retailers often take advantage of this. The process is similar to becoming a distributor: you should contact our wholesale department for details.
We'll provide current pricing, minimum order quantities, and pickup or delivery options. In many cases, bulk orders are picked up at our farm (if you're within range), but shipping can be arranged for larger orders if needed. We have a dedicated wholesale email (wholesale@jaindl.com) and our phone line for wholesale inquiries is 1-800-475-6654.
Because we're a family-run operation, we can often accommodate specific needs (like supplying fresh vs. frozen birds at a certain time, or fulfilling special cuts for foodservice) – just ask and we'll try to help. We've successfully supplied restaurants, supermarkets, and even school systems. So yes, bulk buyers are welcome; let's work together!
If I want to partner with Jaindl Land Company on a land development project or propose a new project, how do I start?
We encourage inquiries regarding land development opportunities. Whether you're a developer with a project idea, an investor interested in our developments, or a business looking for commercial space, the best way to start is to reach out to us directly with your proposal or questions.
You can use the contact form on our site (select "Start a project" as the reason) or call our main office at 610-395-3333. Provide as much detail as you can about the project or partnership you have in mind. Our leadership team will review and get in touch.
Jaindl Land Development has a long history of successful partnerships – from residential communities to commercial centers – and we're always open to exploring "win-win" opportunities that align with our responsible growth mission. We provide guidance and leadership to businesses new and old wanting to grow with us in the Lehigh Valley.
If you have land to sell, a development needing a partner, or an idea that involves our land or expertise, don't hesitate to contact us. We treat each inquiry seriously. Often, the process will involve meetings with our team to evaluate the proposal's fit with our strategy. Being a family company, we can move quickly on good opportunities. In summary: contact us, introduce your idea, and we will direct you to the appropriate person on our land development team for follow-up.
I am a subcontractor/vendor – how can I offer my services to Jaindl?
If you are a subcontractor or supplier looking to work with Jaindl (whether on our farming operations, construction projects, or other business areas), the procedure is to contact our main office and let us know what services you provide.
We do not have a formal vendor application portal on the site, but we welcome qualified, like-minded businesses to reach out. You may call us at 610-395-3333 or use the website's contact form (perhaps choose "I am a subcontractor" as the reason). Provide details about your company, expertise, and any relevant experience.
We maintain a network of trusted contractors for various needs – from construction and trucking to facility maintenance – and when opportunities arise, we often look to those who have contacted us. While we can't guarantee every inquiry will result in immediate work, we do keep information on file. We value safety, reliability and quality workmanship in our partnerships, so highlighting those attributes will get our attention.
In short, send us your info/introduction and we will route it to the appropriate department (farming, land development, etc.) for consideration when subcontracting needs come up.
How do I get in touch for media inquiries or interviews?
For all press and media inquiries, please contact us through the main office as well. You can email info@jaindl.com or call 1-800-475-6654 and our staff will direct you to the appropriate media contact.
Jaindl has a rich history and we're happy to share our story or provide information to journalists, but because we're a family business we don't have a huge PR department – initial media requests all flow through our central office. Let us know what outlet you're with and the nature of your story, and we'll connect you with a company representative (for Jaindl Farms, Land Development, or family leadership) as needed.
We also occasionally put out press releases which can be found in our News section of the website. But the fastest way for media is a direct call or email. We'll respond promptly to discuss your request and coordinate any interviews, site visits, or photo needs.
Land Development & Real Estate Questions
Where can I learn about Jaindl's real estate developments or available properties?
Our website has a dedicated Land Development section with detailed information on our projects. For residential projects, visit the Residential Real Estate page on our site. There you'll find:
- Available Rental Properties: We list any houses or apartments we currently have for rent in Lehigh, Northampton, or Berks County, PA (with addresses and basic info). If a unit is available, it will be shown there along with a phone number (610-395-3333) to inquire.
- Active Projects: These are new residential communities or developments that are in progress. For example, you'll see project names like Apple Hill Estates, Hills at Winchester, Lehigh Hills, Mertztown (Lower Macungie Twp), etc., each with a location and a "View Property" link for more details. If you heard of a new Jaindl development being planned, it will likely be listed here.
- Completed Projects: We also list many of our completed neighborhoods and communities over the years. This is useful to see our track record and perhaps find information on an existing Jaindl-built community.
For commercial and industrial developments, we have Commercial Real Estate and Industrial Real Estate pages as well. Those sections describe business parks, warehouses, offices, and land for sale/lease that Jaindl has developed or is offering. If you're looking to purchase or lease commercial space, those pages are the place to start.
In summary, the Land Development menu on jaindl.com is your portal to all our real estate ventures – whether you're a prospective home buyer, renter, or business. And of course, you can always reach out to us for more information on any specific property listed there. We often handle inquiries directly for our own properties.
I heard about a new Jaindl housing development in my area – how can I get information or purchase a home there?
Whenever Jaindl Land Company is developing a new residential community, we will list it on our website under Active Projects (on the Residential Real Estate page). For example, if the project is "Mertztown" in Lower Macungie, or "Lehigh Hills," you'll find it in that Active Projects list with a link. By clicking the project, you can see details such as the scope of the development, lot or home availability, and often a contact for sales or leasing.
If you're interested in purchasing a lot or a home in one of these new communities, the first step is to contact the realtor or sales agent associated with that project. Many times we partner with local realtors to handle sales. If an agent is not listed on the site, you can inquire directly with us (call our office) and we will direct you appropriately.
For projects still in planning or approval stages, information might be limited until plans are finalized. We appreciate local interest, and we try to be transparent through community meetings and updates on our site. You can also watch the News section of our site or local news for announcements. But the quickest way to get info is: find the project on our website, and use the provided contact method there (or call us). We'll let you know the status, timeline, and how/when lots or units will be available for sale.
Are there any Jaindl residential rental properties currently available?
Yes – Jaindl owns and manages a number of residential rental units (single-family homes and multi-units) in the Lehigh Valley area. We list current availabilities on our Residential Real Estate page. Look for the section titled "Available Rental Properties." If there are any openings, you'll see an address and brief description.
If a property is listed, you can call 610-395-3333 to inquire and begin the application process. We do perform credit/background checks on all prospective tenants.
If no rentals are currently listed, it means we are fully occupied at the moment – you're welcome to check back periodically, as availabilities can change. We're proud to offer country-living style rentals and take good care of our properties, so they tend to fill up quickly when something opens.
Does Jaindl Land Company sell land or commercial lots?
Yes, we do. Jaindl has commercial, industrial, and even some agricultural lands that we develop and sometimes offer for sale or lease. Our Commercial Real Estate page outlines opportunities like retail spaces, office parks, and mixed-use projects (for instance, gas station sites, shopping centers, etc.). The Industrial Real Estate page highlights our industrial parks and available warehouse/manufacturing sites. If you're in the market for land in the Lehigh Valley, check those pages for specific listings.
We create many new business opportunities, including land for sale or lease in prime locations. Each listing will typically have a contact number or email for the person handling that property. If not, just contact our main office and ask for the Land Development department. We have a real estate team that can discuss available parcels, zoning, pricing, and partnership options.
Over the past decades, we've developed millions of square feet of commercial space and we're always interested in connecting with businesses that want to join our communities. So yes, Jaindl does sell land and commercial lots – reach out to us with your needs and we'll see what we can offer.
